蒙古国政府办公厅的历史可追溯至1921年蒙古革命成功之初，当时创设了政府秘书厅（Government Secretary Office）。纵观其历史，该机构一直沿续下来，其间使用过不同的名称，如政府秘书厅（Government Secretary）、行政办公室（Administrative Office）、行政处（Executive Department）、政府事务办公室（Office of Government Affairs）、政府决议办公室（Government Resolution Office）、部长会议秘书和行政办公室（Secretary and Executive Office of the Council of Ministers）、部长会议办公室（Council of Minister\"s Office），目前称政府办公厅。下面是详细的历史年表：
